Who We Are
MBM Chalets is a boutique chalet property management and rental agency founded by chalet owners. Specialising in winter ski and summer mountain properties across the Swiss, French, and Italian Alps, the company is owner-managed and based in Verbier and La Tzoumaz, in the heart of Switzerland’s 4 Vallées region.
Founded in 2022 by Matthew Burnford and his wife, Jo, together with Swiss-trained hospitality professional Martin Trapp, MBM Chalets was created after the founders experienced chalet agencies that fell short on service, communication, and follow-through.
In 2012, Matthew and Jo built Skyfall, their chalet in La Tzoumaz. Renting it through various property management agencies proved disappointing, and they saw an opportunity to do things differently. Their first-hand understanding of chalet ownership, combined with Matthew’s military discipline and crisis management experience, has shaped the character of MBM Chalets.
Martin trained at the Swiss Hospitality Management School at Vatel before moving into client-facing roles with leading hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality businesses. As co-founder and Operations Director, he brings rigorous attention to detail, strong relationship skills, and deep knowledge of real estate, gastronomy, and wine.
MBM stands for Mont Beau Ménage, meaning “beautifully run mountain home.” It reflects the founders’ philosophy: traditional hospitality run with Swiss precision.
What We Do
MBM Chalets serves property owners, as well as guests seeking ski and summer chalet rentals across the Alps. Our services are tailored to each home, each owner, and each stay.
For owners, we provide full property management, maintenance, repairs, local tax support, housekeeping, rentals, interior design, sales support, and private real estate search.
For guests, MBM offers self-catered chalet stays in privately owned homes, with all logistics handled. On request, we can arrange private chefs, mountain guides, ski instructors, heli-skiing, wellness and recovery practitioners, transfers, and childcare.
Our Approach
MBM Chalets is built on service, clear communication, and traditional hospitality. For owners, that means a home cared for as they would care for it themselves. For guests, it means a home prepared with care, thoughtful details, and a warm welcome from people who know the property and the place.
We are small by design, taking on privately owned homes where we know we can add value, protect the owner’s interests, and deliver the standard we promise.
